Bookish Babble: Y16.W12

babble3I’ve been trying to do a Neverland / Peter Pan themed Bookish Babble for weeks now! But when you type in Neverland most of the crap that comes up is Michael Jackson related. So I turned to looking for quotes I liked by the original Peter Pan author. I found four I really liked, so here they are made all pretty, followed by the only two memes I found online worthy of making it into this post. God I love the WordSwag app :-P.“Always be a little kinder than necessary.” James M. Barrie.“Dreams do come true, if we only wish hard enough, You can have anything in life if you will sacrifice everything else for it.” James M. Barrie “Temper is a weapon that we hold by the blade.” James M. Barrie.“Life is a long lesson in humility.” James M. Barrie.

Sir James Matthew Barrie (9 May 1860 – 19 June 1937) was a Scottish novelist and playwright, best remembered today as the creator of Peter Pan.

Reading Moore and Reppion’s adaption of The Complete Alice in Wonderland last week got me in the mood for a Wonderland themed Babble.

Haha that sounds like me!

My favorite Lewis Carroll Quotes:
*
“I can’t go back to yesterday – because I was a different person then.”
*
“One of the secrets of life is that all that is really worth the doing is what we do for others.”
*
“She generally gave herself very good advice, (though she very seldom followed it).”
*

I’ve never seen the matrix, but am thinking now that maybe I should watch it LOL.

Until Next Time 🙂 Enjoy Your Shelves 🙂

I was checking up on series that I’m waiting on the next books in > which took me the The Soul Thief and this quote I liked from it > riley scottwhich lead me into making this weeks babble about wizards.

The Wizards Edition:

Wizard. Noun. (in legends and fairy tales) a man who has magical powers. Also a help feature of a software package that automates complex tasks by asking the user a series of easy-to-answer questions.

What is a wizard’s favorite subject in school?

Spelling.

What do you call two wizards who live together?

Broom-mates.

I knew when I typed in Wizard Meme I’d get some Harry Potter memes. I thought there would be funny non-Harry ones as well. The best ones were the Harry ones, bar old mate on the computer above.

You totally heard Katy Perry singing that in your head didn’t you – I know I did.

I hadn’t ever thought about that! How come the twins never noticed Peter Pettigrew before? Hmmmm almost worth a tweet to Queen Rowling.

The Narnian Edition:

Narnia: a magical land created by C.S. Lewis in 1955. Populated by talking animals and mythical creatures, sometimes visited by humans through magic portals hidden in ordinary objects like wardrobes. And a place where adults wish they could escape to from time to time and be kids again!

Oops my bad!

My inner child still goes to Narnia, but the Tardis and Hogwarts are both close seconds!

Lets be all grown up and serious now – here are some C.S. Lewis quotes.

Well that got a little deep!

Until next time, enjoy your shelves 🙂

babble3The “It had to be done” Edition:

The Twilight Saga movies would have to be the most meme’d book to movie adaptation of all time. There are so many meme’s bagging the shit out of the series. So today’s task wasn’t finding content for this Babble, because the content is endless, but finding funny or intelligent content – well yeah, that’s wasn’t so easy.

I purposely went looking for the Raptor watches Edward watching Bella meme because I remember finding it amusing the first time I saw it.

That then lead to a bunch of Raptor and Dino memes that were much better than the twilight ones.

Hehehehehehe…

Oh yeah, “bookish” babble – Back to Twilight.

Yeah OK, I did laugh the first time I saw this one!

Yeah valid point meme maker, valid point.

DAMN! I hadn’t even thought about that until I saw this meme for the first time today haha.

funny twilight meme creep

Yeah… Who’s up for more Raptor Memes? ME!

The “Oops the day is almost over, so I better chuck something together” Edition:

I’ve got so many things i’m trying to get on top of at the moment, so many plans in the works (I’ll do a post explaining this shortly -hopefully LOL) that this is my brain at the moment

But everyday!!!

I’m trying!!!

Oh dear, this speaks to my fragile mind at the moment.

I’m going to go have a nap! Sorry this really didn’t make sense.

Until next time, enjoy your naps, Oops I mean shelves 🙂

babble3I’ve had The Mortal Instruments series on my TBR for a while. I held off seeing the 2013 movie as I wanted to read the first book first, I gave in and ended up watching it on DVD in mid-2015 and I really enjoyed it. I watched the first two episodes of the Netflix TV series and seeing how much they’ve changed just from the Movie, I said to myself “Stop you need to read the books”, so I bought the first five books second hand on eBay for $25 including postage – I was pretty chuffed with that :-). I have just started the third book and I am loving the series so far, hence why I thought I’d do a Babble based on it.

The Destroyed Edition:

Since I just mentioned the movie and TV adaptations:69549f32f8b9fa93cd0710aa92dcea31

The TV Jace is more my cup of tea then movie Jace. He’s a pretty boy, but he’s supposed to be. I kept seeing movie Jace (Jamie Campbell Bower) as Caius in The Twilight Saga, looking all pale and evil. Jamie also played he young Gellert Grindelwald in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 – shame he’ll always be one of the Volturi to me.9f8983a5968ab3e14c295e905c98552d

Oh Simon! you make me giggle.

486214_388954137847999_1861670544_n

Oh if only! If Jocelyn doesn’t wake up I’ll happily have Luke. Oops, what, who said that!

FullSizeRenderThis broke my heart, oh Jace! but I do agree with the sentiments. The more you love someone the more they can hurt you, but I’ve never seen that as a reason not to love!!

Well I’m going to go finish reading City of Glass, until next time 🙂 Enjoy Your Shelves 🙂

I saw this on Instagram and loved it! I spend the bare minimum on everything I can (clothes included) for myself, my husband and the house. The only thing I put before books is my son. I buy no name toilet paper, tampons and juice, but Riley gets huggies nappies and when he was on formula I was buying the most expensive there was.

Where am I going with today’s Babble – I don’t even know UMMMM – sorry I haven’t pre-thought this week through. I just saw the above picture yesterday and had to share it LOL.

Bitch please! If you’re buying books it does equal happiness!

Yeah OK, valid point! I have been telling my husband that I want to get our son into a weekly habit of walking up to the library and borrowing books. But some books you simply HAVE to own.

10 ways to save money!

1. Don’t leave the house! other than to go to work, a library or the supermarket (I pretty much already do this).

2. Walk to work, the library and the supermarket (good idea, says the lazy bitch who drives everywhere).

3. At the supermarket all you will buy is no-name peanut butter, soy milk and trail mix (apparently you could survive like this, think i’d be ill after the first few days).

4. Don’t have pets (says the woman with two dogs and a husband).

5. Don’t have kids (says the woman with a 2.5 year old).

6. Go to the library (no comment, you really should) or

7. Rob a book store, so you’ll have enough books to nourish your soul – as there will be nothing else left in your life (hmm I think that’d be a criminal offence, HEY you can read in jail AND they cover all your food etc).

8. If you’re too much of a pansy to rob a book store and too lazy to walk to the library, re-read the books you own (don’t rob a book store).

9. Sell your soul and you’ll never have money trouble again (this is true, but without your soul will you enjoy your financial freedom).

10. Ok this list is ridiculous and probably not even funny – so that’ll do!

Until Next Time 🙂 Enjoy Your Shelves 🙂

babble3Baker Street Edition: So many people have put their own spin on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes (books, television and film) that I thought it’d be a rather interesting Babble. The downside of all the different adaptions is that the majority of the memes etc. online at the moment are about the current Cumberbatch & Freeman reincarnation, not the original.

There is nothing more deceptive than an obvious fact. - Arthur Conan Doyle

"when you have eliminated the impossible whatever is left, however improbable, must be the truth.":

Sherlock Holmes Print Watson Arthur Conan Doyle by LitPrints, $15.00Sherlock's Catchphrase and other famous movie one-liners you’ve been quoting wrong for years ... (according to BuzzFeed):

I’d love to verify this!!! It’s in all the movies and one of the TV adaptions was even called Elementary!

I found an interesting post on it here at Today I Found Out Holmes never said “Elementary my dear Watson” in any of the original 56 short stories or 4 novels starring his character. The closest he comes is in, The Adventure of the Crooked Man. In this story, Holmes uses both the word “Elementary” and the phrase, “my dear Watson“, in somewhat close proximity. The two, however, are not uttered together… Holmes uses the phrase, “exactly, my dear Watson” in 3 different stories.”

Hmmm not so funny now I know he never really said it 😦 Dang It!!
